Question 1

What is BuyLatam?

Accepted Answer

BuyLatam is a B2B platform that connects verified Latin American manufacturers with professional buyers across the region. It uses AI-powered matching to identify which buyers may be relevant for each manufacturer and to rank opportunities by fit. At this stage, it is completely free for manufacturers.

Question 2

Is BuyLatam similar to Alibaba?

Accepted Answer

BuyLatam is focused exclusively on Latin American manufacturers. Unlike Alibaba, which is a global marketplace dominated by Asian suppliers, BuyLatam specializes in verified manufacturers from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and other countries in the region. It does not charge a transaction commission and connects buyers directly with manufacturers.

Question 3

Does BuyLatam charge commissions on transactions?

Accepted Answer

No. BuyLatam does not charge commissions on commercial transactions. The platform connects professional buyers directly with verified manufacturers without intervening in payments, contracts, or negotiations. At this launch stage, use for manufacturers is completely free.

Question 4

How much does BuyLatam cost for manufacturers?

Accepted Answer

BuyLatam has a Free plan at no cost, with no credit card required, and paid plans with more capacity for inquiries, opportunities and tools like SAM. See the details on the Pricing page.

Question 5

How do I receive inquiries and opportunities on BuyLatam?

Accepted Answer

The manufacturer completes onboarding in under 10 minutes. From then on, buyers interested in their products write to them through the platform's messaging, and BuyLatam suggests opportunities ranked by Match Score, with the reason for the match. The manufacturer marks which opportunities were relevant, and that feedback improves the next suggestions.

Question 6

What is the Match Score?

Accepted Answer

It's a score that BuyLatam assigns to each opportunity based on the probability that the buyer will be interested in the manufacturer's product. It combines profile analysis, sector, geography, search history, and other factors. The manufacturer uses the Match Score to prioritize which opportunity to handle first.

Question 7

How are manufacturers verified on BuyLatam?

Accepted Answer

Manufacturers go through a validation process that includes review of business data, corporate documentation, available certifications, and structured profiling of production capabilities. This process reduces commercial risk for buyers and differentiates BuyLatam from unfiltered platforms.

Question 8

Which industries are available on the platform?

Accepted Answer

BuyLatam covers multiple B2B sectors: Home & Living (furniture, upholstery, lighting, decor), Packaging (flexible, rigid, sustainable), Automotive (indirect procurement + Tier 2-3), Oil & Gas (Vaca Muerta), Food & Beverage, Industrial Machinery, Construction, Textiles, PPE & uniforms, Personal Care, and Tools.

Question 9

Is BuyLatam available for international buyers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The platform is designed for professional buyers from any country who want to source from manufacturers in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. Buyer access is being rolled out in stages — currently some buyers access via waitlist and others are already operating on the platform.

Question 10

Does BuyLatam process payments or contracts?

Accepted Answer

No. BuyLatam does not intervene in payments, contracts, or commercial terms. It works as digital infrastructure to facilitate direct connections between companies. The final commercial agreement is closed directly between the manufacturer and the buyer, under terms both parties define.

Question 11

Which countries does BuyLatam cover?

Accepted Answer

Manufacturers are primarily from Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, with smaller presence in other countries in the region. Buyers include companies from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. The geographic focus is strictly Latin America.

Question 12

Does BuyLatam replace international trade shows?

Accepted Answer

No. BuyLatam complements trade shows by solving what they do not solve: the continuous flow of business opportunities between events. Trade shows remain valuable for building relationships and seeing products in person, but between one show and the next there can be 8 to 11 months with no pipeline. BuyLatam fills that gap.

Question 13

How is BuyLatam different from other B2B platforms?

Accepted Answer

Three main differences: exclusive focus on Latin American manufacturers (not global), AI-driven matching based on iterative feedback from the manufacturer (not an open catalog), and a no-commission-per-transaction model: you pay a monthly or annual plan, with no fees per deal. The result is a system designed specifically for the profile of the Latin American industrial SME.

Question 14

Do I need a website or digital catalog to use BuyLatam?

Accepted Answer

It is not required. BuyLatam's onboarding captures the essential information about your factory directly: categories, capabilities, certifications, and catalog. If you have a website or PDF catalog, you can upload it during the process. If you don't, you can still get started.

Question 15

How long until I see the first opportunities after onboarding?

Accepted Answer

The first opportunities usually appear a few days after completing onboarding. The exact time depends on the sector, the categories loaded, and the availability of active buyers at that moment. The system prioritizes quality over speed — the opportunities you see are already filtered by relevance.

Question 16

What happens if the opportunities are not relevant to my factory?

Accepted Answer

The system is designed to improve with feedback. The manufacturer marks which opportunities were relevant and which were not, and adds qualitative comments. That information feeds the suggestions of the following cycles, which are more precise than the previous ones. Feedback is the key to making the matching work well.

Question 17

Does BuyLatam replace a sales representative?

Accepted Answer

No. A sales representative manages the relationship with each client, negotiates prices, and closes sales — everything that comes after the initial introduction. BuyLatam brings you opportunities and inquiries; commercial management and closing remain yours.

Question 18

How do I sign up for BuyLatam?

Accepted Answer

Go to app.buy-latam.com, click 'List your company', and complete the onboarding. The process takes less than 10 minutes and does not require a credit card. Once completed, you start receiving inquiries and opportunities within a few days.
